Adell Medlin Sauls

Adell Medlin Sauls

January 28, 2023, 92, Goldsboro –

Adell Medlin Sauls entered into her eternal reward on January 28, 2023. The ninth of thirteen children, she was born in Johnston County to the late William Henry Medlin and Annie Lillian Aycock Medlin on April 18, 1930. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James Melvin Sauls; son, James Timothy Sauls; and all of her brothers and sisters.

At the young age of 13, Adell accepted the gift of salvation from her Lord Jesus Christ and served him faithfully for the remainder of her days. This decision led her in all aspects of life, as she always turned to the Lord for guidance.

After graduating from high school, Adell worked at the Division of Motor Vehicles in Raleigh for four years. In 1954, she married the love of her life, James Melvin Sauls. The two made a happy home together where they raised their children. Caring for her husband and children was considered time well spent and gave great meaning to her life.

Outside of day-to-day tasks around the home, Adell spent much time tending to her flowers and vegetable garden. Using her sewing skills, she accomplished everything from mending the worn to creating anew.

As a member of Grace Baptist Church, she was actively involved in many of its ministries. For 18 years, she enjoyed caring for children at Goldsboro Christian Day Care Center sponsored by Second Baptist Church. Though the job was taxing, the hugs she received in return were rewarded enough for the hard day’s work. Adell also enjoyed caring for her own grandchildren as long as she was able.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 3, 2023, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Adell’s life at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Jason Stoeber officiating. Interment will follow in the Aycock Family Cemetery beside her beloved husband.

Adell is survived by her daughters, Beverly Jo Sawyer and husband, John of Mebane and Mary Louise Lewis of Clayton; grandchildren, Kari DeWitt, Jeremy DeWitt and wife, Keron, Ryan Fields and wife, Hope, Timothy Sauls Jr., Kevin Sauls and Anna Lewis; and twelve great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank each person who helped make Adell’s last years better at home, especially Linda and Raymond Gregory. Special thanks are also expressed to Tammy Hamlett for her selfless, in exhaustive service to Adell and her family. Her continuous presence and support allowed Adell’s final wish to be at home during her last days on this earth to be fulfilled. God bless you, Tammy!

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given in her memory to Grace Baptist Church, 1715 Royall Avenue, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
