Nicholas Doubd Gwatney, 85, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023, at the Brian Center of Goldsboro. Born in Wayne County on February 3, 1937, he was the son of the late Magnus Thomas Gwatney and Margaret Triplett Gwatney.

Nick is survived by his children, Niki Hooks and husband, Eric, and Doubd Gwatney; grandsons, Jaxson Hooks, Braxton Hooks, and Magnus Gwatney; the mother of his children, Rachel Gwatney; brother, Tommy Gwatney and wife, Linda; and sister, Betty Jean Gauss.

Nick was co-owner of Jennifer Nicole’s Uniform Shop. In the past, Nick was in car sales. He enjoyed being outside with a fishing line in his hand or at the Wilson County Speedway where he was a co-owner. Nick was a member of the United In Christ Church.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Ira Williford officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2023, at Seymour Funeral Home.
