Dell Parks Combs, 90, was received into the presence of her Lord in the early morning hours of Friday, January 27, 2023, at her home. Dell was born in Wayne County to the late Paul Yelverton Parks and Maude Culbreth Dees Parks on September 22, 1932. In addition to her parents, Dell was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Leonard D. Combs.
Very involved in her church, Stoney Creek Original Free Will Baptist Church, Dell served as the president of the Ambassador Sunday School Class and as church clerk for many years. She was also a member of the Alpha Circle and a faithful servant to special programs like the Creek Kidz ministry and Night in Bethlehem. She faithfully served her Lord by utilizing her gifts and talents and worshipped Him faithfully throughout her life.
A dedicated employee of Curtis Media Group, Dell retired after offering over 52 years of service.
Although Dell had no children of her own, she was blessed with a large extended family and was no doubt a blessing back to them. A family full of love, they surrounded each other with devotion and care.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 5, 2023, from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Stoney Creek O.F.W.B. Church. A service will follow at 4:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Rev. Joey Williams and Rev. Barry Williamson officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 6, 2023, in Wayne Memorial Park with Dr. Josh Whitfield officiating.
Dell is survived by her sister, Ruby Parks Gurley, and husband, Woody of LaGrange; niece, Paula Gurley Boldt, and husband, Dr. John Boldt of LaGrange; great-nephew, Andrew Boldt.
She was preceded in death by her special cousins, Ann Smith Best and John and Carolyn Smith, and is survived by their families which include: Hal Best (Pam King) of Goldsboro, Kim Honeycutt and husband, Doug of Pikeville and Teresa Haithcock and husband, Johnnie of Goldsboro; and their children and grandchildren which includes: Chad Honeycutt (Christen), Stephanie Lassiter, Shaun Honeycutt, Summer Parker (Matthew), Forrest Honeycutt, Walker Honeycutt (Abigail), Brian Corbett (Ashley), Kyle Corbett (Kelli), Emily C. Gurley (Michael), Dustin Smith (Brittany), Kelsey F. Tate (Chad), Hailey Fields and their children–Braxton, Brayden, Avery, Beckett, Aubrie, Tucker, Izzie, Kendall, Kolten, Max, Saylor, Connor, Caroline, and Hadley.
