Sammy Eugene Easom

Sammy Eugene Easom

January 23, 2023, 76, Goldsboro –

Sammy Eugene Easom, 76, entered his eternal home with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his family on Monday, January 23, 2023. Sammy was born in High Point to the late Glenn and Geneva Easom on September 29, 1946. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Easom, and sister, Glenda Mast.

Sammy was a husband, father, grandfather, pastor, friend, and so much more. But the title he is most grateful for is a child of God. Sammy wanted his life to reflect the grace and goodness God had given him throughout his life. No matter what it was that he sought to do, he wanted God to be glorified. Jesus Christ was the chief cornerstone of his life.

Sammy retired from the Social Security Administration in Rocky Mount as a District Manager. He was able to work alongside others and lead teams to help the community. He was ordained as a Minister in the Church of God denomination. This ordination led him to opportunities to share God’s amazing love through music, teaching, and preaching. Throughout his time, he served as a minister of music, associate pastor, and lead pastor. His greatest blessing as a minister was being able to study God’s Word and then have the opportunity to preach and teach others about the prophecy of the end times. This is where his gifts for teaching would really shine.

God had given Sammy the gift of music, and he was able to share God’s Word through song. His music reached more than can be counted, and Sammy was simply doing as God called. As an accomplished musician, he wrote many gospel songs. The one which really spoke to listeners was the song, “He’s All I Need”.

Sammy served his Lord and Savior at Goldsboro Worship Center. He was active in many of their ministries and was grateful for any opportunity to give back to the Lord.

Sammy’s greatest joy came in the lives of his family. He always wanted to make sure his wife, Alinda, and his family were taken care of. God was first in Sammy’s life, and this is what made him an even better husband and father. He found even more joy than he could imagine in the lives of his grandchildren. He wanted to make sure he was cheering them on as much as possible. He beamed with excitement as they would shine in their gifts such as sports and music.

When Sammy wasn’t spending time with family, working, or teaching the Word of God, he could be found on the tennis courts of Greenridge Racket Club. He enjoyed the sport and played or watched at any free opportunity.

In Sammy’s life, he sought to do as the Bible taught – love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength; and to love your neighbor as yourself. Well done, Sammy.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 28, 2023, from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Goldsboro Worship Center followed by a service to celebrate Sammy’s life at 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Pastor Danny Johnson and Terry Dooley officiating. Interment will be on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Sammy is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alinda Fowler Easom; sons, Kevin Easom, and wife, Susan of Goldsboro, Jonathan Easom and wife, Kristal of Sneads Ferry, and Marcus Easom and wife, Geri Lynn of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Christopher Easom and wife, Christy, Nicholas Easom and wife, Alli, Abigail Honeycutt and husband, Walker, Caleb Easom, Cody Easom and wife, Madison, Ian Easom, and Blake Easom; great-grandchildren, Cooper Easom, Caelan Easom, Brodie Easom, and Charlotte Easom; and sisters, Iris Moody and husband, Danny of Goldsboro and Elga Owens and husband, Jim of Wilson.
