Michael Francis Doran

Michael Francis Doran

January 24, 2023, 69, Goldsboro –

Michael Francis Doran, 69, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in Riverside, California on July 23, 1953, he was the son of the late Francis and Mary Doran.

Michael had a keen and deep appreciation for the opportunities that the United States Air Force provided for him. For over 23 years, Michael served faithfully in the Air Force. Michael was a very active member of AFOG, driving a truck for them, and setting up orientations. Michael would always find time for reading, whether it was the newspaper or a good book. Being a Philadelphia sports fan, oftentimes Michael could be found in front of the television enjoying a sports game from the Flyers, Eagles, or Phillies. Michael had a passion for music. He taught himself how to play the guitar and played in a band, The Gypsy Freight, in his younger years.

Michael’s biggest passion in his life was his family. Nothing pleased Michael’s heart more than being able to take his daughters down to feed the ducks. Michael never missed an opportunity to take his family to watch a firework show. Michael will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

A time of visitation for Michael will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, from 11 A.M. until 1 P.M. at Seymour Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at 2 P.M.

Michael is survived by his wife, Yong Chong Doran; children, Jackie Tenney and husband, Jesse, Maryanne Doran, and Deborah Doran; grandchildren, Jett, Jude, and Joanna; siblings, Patricia Sharpe, Kathy Klein, Francis Doran, Bobby Doran, and Tommy Doran.

In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by a brother, Timmy Doran; and a step-father, Charlie Radich.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to the Wounded Warriors Project at 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256, or online in memory of Michael.
