Rose Marie Fields O’Quinn

Rose Marie Fields O’Quinn

January 18, 2023, 63, Goldsboro –

Rose Marie Fields O’Quinn, 63, exchanged her earthly life for the splendor of seeing her Lord face-to-face on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Rose was born in Wayne County to the late Emmitt Rose Fields and Margaret Barwick Rowe on July 3, 1959.

For many years while the children were growing up, Rose worked alongside her husband in the family business and was dedicated to the success of O’Quinn’s Variety Store. By performing day-to-day operations she was able to provide for her family’s tangible needs and supported the dreams of her husband. Busy from sun up to sun down, she was devoted to serving her family and lending a helping hand. Known as “Mama” to the many that entered the store, they found in Rose and Patrick much more than a place to shop. In them, they found a second family.

Rose is probably best known by the patrons of Wilber’s Barbecue of Goldsboro. There she was requested by many loyal customers, who enjoyed her southern charm and excellent wait service. She always had a big smile on her face, a warm welcome for those who entered the restaurant. As a head waitress, she always found a way to motivate other staff members, give advice to those in need, and de-escalate tense situations.

Family was Rose’s ultimate joy. Married to Patrick for over 34 years, the two raised their family in a Christian home teaching love, respect, and the value of hard work. When grandchildren came along, Rose added the title of “Granny” to her list of endearments as her heart filled with even more love to share. Each grandchild held a special place in her life, and she was sure to attend every event in which they participated.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 22, 2023, from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A service of love and remembrance will follow at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Andy Stovall officiating. Committal will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2023, at Wayne Memorial Park.

Rose is survived by her husband, Patrick O’Quinn; children, Mariah Fisher (Jeff), Crystal Boudy (Joe), Shane O’Quinn (Karen), and Chuckie O’Quinn (Traci); grandchildren, Ledger O’Quinn, McKinsey O’Quinn, Madalynn Martin, Cassidy Martin, Destiny Sasser, Serena Rye, Carissa McGuinn, Mason Fisher, and Dylan Fisher; great-grandchildren, Willow Rye and Amaya McGuinn; and brothers, Kenneth Fields (Janie) and Mark Rowe (Janie). She is also survived by her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Patricia and John Warren, Carmen O’Quinn, Durwood and Margaret O’Quinn, and Chris O’Quinn.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Fields.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given in Rose’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
