Jimmy McKeel, 82 passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. Born in Wayne County on November 11, 1940, he was the son of the late James Roland McKeel and Matilda Lane McKeel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise McKeel; his step-daughter, Diane Kennedy; his step-sons, Danny Peardon and Randy Peardon; and his brother, Rudy Lane.

Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After his tour with the Navy, Jimmy began a career in Insurance.

Known as a gentle giant, Jimmy had a huge and extremely caring heart. He was an awesome caregiver to his wife during her failing health. If he thought a person was in need, he would give the shirt off of his back. To his children and the lives of the people that he touched, he was the perfect role model.

A celebration of his life will be held by the graveside Monday, January 23, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, Dudley NC with Pastor Glenn Phillips officiating.

Jimmy is survived by his son, Jimmy McKeel and wife, Nicole of Goldsboro; daughter, Valerie Hobbs of Georgia; six grandchildren; brothers, Douglas McKeel of Goldsboro and Sherill McKeel and wife Judy; sisters, Jackie White, Kay Lewis of Goldsboro, and Helen Grady of Virginia; and a host of extended relatives and friends.
