Update

As of 9 a.m. January 16th, the juvenile victim is listed in fair condition at ECU Health Medical Center. The victim is expected to recover.

Previous Story

On January 15, 2023, at approximately 11:45 a.m., Goldsboro Police Department “D” shift responded to a shooting in Fairview Circle.  Responding officers located a 7-year-old juvenile suffering from a single gunshot wound to the torso area. 

Officers were advised that an 8-year-old relative accidentally shot the victim. The 7-year-old victim was transported to UNC Health Wayne and then subsequently airlifted to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville. The condition of the 7-year-old juvenile victim is not available at this time.

Investigators and crime scene specialists from Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau responded to the scene.  Investigators are actively working on gathering information in reference to the incident. No further information will be released at this time, however, an update will be provided later.
