Virginia Mozingo Lindsey, 96, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family and friends. Born December 9, 1926, in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Bennie Henry and Mary Carter Mozingo.

Virginia retired from the Department of Motor Vehicles in Goldsboro. She was known for her beautiful smile and bubbly personality. She was loved and admired by all.

She is survived by her sons, Earl W. Lindsey and wife, Jan (Roper, NC), William “Pat” Lindsey and wife, Lina (Warner Robins, GA), and Ronnie G. Lindsey (Dudley, NC); daughter, Vivian L. Rowe of the home; grandchildren; Tracey Lindsey, L.J. Lindsey and wife, Amanda, Charles Lindsey, Angela L. Overton and husband, Bobby, Mark Lindsey, Beth L. Prater and husband, Jeff, and Elizabeth R. Merrill and husband, Andrew; 12 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Leonard Lindsey; son, Gary Lindsey; grandson, Dean Bass; son-in-law, William Thomas Rowe; brothers, Ben Mozingo, Irving Mozingo, and J.C. Mozingo; and sisters, Edna Earl Mozingo and Dorothy Whitehurst.

A service of love and remembrance will be held by the graveside at Fairview Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2023. The family will receive friends following the service.

The family would like to express their thankfulness to 3-HC of Goldsboro for all of their loving care, especially Caroline Sowers, RN, for always loving, caring, and being efficient in Virginia’s care. Also, a special friend and private duty nurse, Penny Williford, RN, for the love and care of Virginia and her family members.
