Update

During the course of this investigation, it was determined that the victim’s injuries were self-inflicted. The victim succumbed to her injuries at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville in the early morning hours of 1/12/2023. 

This case is no longer a shooting investigation, as it has been determined to be a suicide. This investigation is now closed.

Goldsboro Police Department is investigating a shooting on Lockhaven Drive.

According to a statement. on Jan. 11, 2023, at approximately 11:03 p.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 200 block of E. Lockhaven Drive. Upon arrival, officers located a 54-year-old woman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

A family member living with the victim told officers that the victim shot herself. Wayne EMS personnel transported the victim to UNC Health Wayne. The victim was subsequently flown to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville for further treatment. The victim is in critical condition.

The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. This investigation is still developing. ​
