William Albert (Bill) Jinnette Jr.

William Albert (Bill) Jinnette Jr.

January 5, 2023, 82, Goldsboro –

William Albert (Bill) Jinnette Jr., age 82 passed away at home on January 5, 2023, in the presence of his loving family after an extended illness. Bill was born to the late William Albert Jinnette and the late Janet Spainhour Jinnette of the Grantham Community.

He is survived by his first-grade “sweetheart” and wife of 57 years, Nellie Mac Bryan Jinnette; his daughter, Abigail Jinnette Horton, and husband, Thomas Joseph Horton Jr. of Morehead City; his son, William Albert Jinnette, III of Goldsboro; daughter-in-law, Amy Roberson Jinnette of Garner and four adored granddaughters, Alice Cox Pittman Horton, Abigail Jinnette Horton, Sara MacDonald Jinnette, and Anna Claire Jinnette. Also, surviving are sisters, Barbara Jinnette Laughon and husband, Dr. Robert B. Laughon of Greensboro, and Priscilla Jinnette Comer and husband, Joseph Henry Comer III of Fairhope, Alabama.

Bill was devoted to his family, his community, and his country. He served in the United States Army from 1961 until 1963. Bill graduated from Campbell College in 1968, majoring in business administration.

His love of farming and nature, while growing up on his family’s farm in Wayne County, inspired his career in agribusiness. Upon his retirement in 2002, Bill returned to his childhood home of now six generations.

Bill was a sportsman and a “gentleman.” He enjoyed bird hunting and excelled at the sport of shooting. He had a passion for fishing and treasured watching each of his four granddaughters catch their “first fish.” His wit, charm, and unique way with words made him a natural storyteller.

His love of farming, nature, and wildlife, and sharing these interests with his family and friends, brought him much happiness. Whatever the venture (or adventure) he dedicated himself fully.

The family will greet friends at Seymour Funeral Home on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. A private service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are sent to 3HC of Goldsboro or The North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com
