James Ernest Chandler, 88, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023. Born in Sumter, South Carolina on July 2, 1934, he was the son of the late Retha Isabel Chandler.

James is survived by his wife of 65 years, Verna B. Chandler; children, Phyllis A. Turner, Vernon L. Chandler, and Belle Chandler (Vernon Bartlett); and five grandchildren.

James proudly served his country during the Korean War. He honorably retired from the United States Air Force and later worked in Civil Service.

A private inurnment with military honors will take place at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro.
