Ingram Honored, Wayne Regional Fair Shines at Annual Convention

Representatives of the Wayne Regional Fair just returned from the annual Convention of the North Carolina Association of Agricultural Fairs (NCAOAF).  In addition to networking and attending educational events, the fair was pleased to win the following awards:

  • Youth Award is given to the fair that has the best involvement of youth and youth activities in their fair.
  • Agricultural Award is given to the fair that best showcases agriculture and the agricultural heritage of the area served.
  • Media Award is given to the fair that has the best overall advertising and public relations campaign.
  • Innovation Award is given to the fair that has the best New idea or program to improve their fair. Our award was based on the establishment of a Junior Fair Board that involved youth and gave us new, young, ideas for improving our fair.
  • Image Award is given to the most outstanding fair in North Carolina.  It is given to the fair that exhibits a balance of outstanding agricultural, youth and livestock exhibits.  It also must provide interesting contests, great entertainment, wonderful fair food, and have a safe and exciting carnival.

In addition, Milton Ingram, former fair manager, was honored for his years of service to the NCAOAF.  He retired from the board where he had served many years, including as president. He has also received their highest honor – the Holmes McBryde Award.  This award is presented to an individual for distinguished achievement in, or contribution to, the Fair Industry.
