Richard Bernard McDonald, 70, of Wilson, NC passed away peacefully on December 29, 2022, from complications with pneumonia.

Born on April 13, 1952, to George Edward McDonald and Elizabeth Rae Blumberg, Rick grew up in Rumford RI and attended East Providence High School. He eventually settled in North Carolina but his true home was in his truck, where he logged thousands of miles during his 50+ years in the trucking industry. He enjoyed the freedom of life on the road and had a remarkable ability to connect with people wherever he traveled. Rick never met a stranger that didn’t quickly become a friend. He had a great sense of humor, an infectious laugh, and many stories to tell about his adventurous life. He was a kind and compassionate person who enjoyed his family, his dog, good music, and motorcycles. Everyone who knew Rick loved him and he will be greatly missed.

Rick leaves behind his beloved daughter, Katie Elizabeth McDonald, and her mother, Paula Ferland McDonald, of Cumberland, sisters Cynthia McDonald of Narragansett and Kathleen Eastwood of North Carolina, his best friend and aunt, Linda Allcock, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends who loved him deeply.
