December 31, 2022, 75, Mount Olive –

William “Bill” Lelon Odom Jr. of Mt. Olive passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Willow Creek Rehab in Goldsboro,  at the age of 75 with his loving family by his side.

Bill was born January 28, 1947, in Wayne County to the late William (Jack) L. Odom Sr. and Verlie Mae Powell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers CW Barber and Jackie Odom.

Bill leaves to cherish his memory his daughter and son-in-law Emily Odom Pridgen and Rodney Pridgen, and son and daughter-in-law William Odom and Kristina, Odom; his grandchildren, Madison and Myles Pridgen whom he adored;  his brother Kent Odom; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Bill was a proud Army veteran and served his country by completing three tours of duty in the Vietnam War. After he was honorably discharged from the military,  Bill spent many years employed as a truck driver hauling anything from logs to produce.

Before his health failed,  he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and brother.

To know Bill was to love him, he always had a smile, and kind words, and never met a stranger. To his children and grandchildren,  he was the most loving and adored Daddy and Papa, and his loss will be immeasurable.

A memorial service to reflect upon his life will be Friday, January 6, at 6 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home.  Pastor Jeff Dail will preside.  Visitation with the family will follow the service.
