December 31, 2022, 88, Goldsboro –

Nancy Crowther Archibald, 88, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Goldsboro Assisted Living, where she was loved and cared for by their staff and the staff of Community Hospice Care.

Nancy was born on January 7, 1934, to John Alvon Crowther and Nancy Jeanette Beach Crowther.

Born and raised in Petersburg, she went on to treasure her time as a student at the College of William & Mary, and always said she was waiting to marry her future husband until he arrived in a Thunderbird convertible; when her blind date to a military ball appeared in a Thunderbird convertible, they married in 1959. She and her husband William “Bill” Kenneth Archibald, of Sheridan WY, raised their two children in Sheridan until they returned to Petersburg, VA in 1986, to be closer to her mother, whom she adored.

In 2010, Nancy moved to Goldsboro, NC to live closer to her son and family. In Goldsboro, she was embraced by a community of friends and caregivers.

Proceeded in death by her father, mother, and husband; she is survived by a daughter, Ann Archibald Heller (Frank), and son, David Beach Archibald (Sherry), as well as three grandchildren she was extremely proud of; Kenneth “Kenny” Archibald, Frances Heller and Mary Archibald.

To honor her life and reflect on her memory, the family will hold a Memorial Gathering at the home of David & Sherry Archibald in Goldsboro between the hours of 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023. A graveside service will follow at a later date for the immediate family at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, VA.
