December 31, 2022, 86, La Grange –

A.P. Smith, 86, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Willow Creek Nursing and Rehab. Born in Wayne County on July 5, 1936, he was the son of the late Johnny H. and Mina Head Smith.

In addition to his parents, A.P. was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Harrison Smith, and sisters, Glennie Mae Jenkins and Joan Keel.

A.P. is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Smith and Beverly Smith; grandchildren, T.J. Barrow, Brittney Mitchell, Samantha Crawford, Tanner Smith, and Lucas Grady; great-grandchild, June Crawford; sister, Vicky Jordan, Linda Sutton, and Judy Parrott; brother, John Wayne Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

A.P. was a well-known farmer in the Hood Swamp community. He enjoyed working the land along with any chance to wet a fishing line.

A private interment will take place at Wayne Memorial Park.
