December 23, 2022, 73, Princeton –

Wanda Thompson Daughtry, 73, of Princeton, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022, at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield surrounded by her family. Wanda was born in Wake County on March 2, 1949, to the late Millard Preston Thompson, Jr. and Francis Louise Creech Thompson.

Wanda is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, James Bobby Daughtry; sons, Jamie Daughtry and wife Sandy of Princeton and Jeremey Daughtry and wife Rachel of Princeton; grandchildren, Travis Daughtry, Samantha Austin, Madison Daughtry, Mandy Austin, and Emma Marie Daughtry; sisters, Saundra Allen of Smithfield, Brenda Peedin and husband Lee of Selma and several other family and friends.

Wanda was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend. She received her Master’s Degree in Education and taught in the Johnston Public Schools for over 33 years. She was a faithful member of Old Union Primitive Baptist Church for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading but most importantly spending time with her family and friends as they meant the world to her. She will be dearly missed but precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

The visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations in Princeton.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Old Union Primitive Baptist Church in Smithfield with Elder Jesse Hutchins and Elder LaRay Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodard Family Cemetery in Princeton.
