George Wayne Anderson, 70, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022, at UNC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill. Born in Goldsboro on November 16, 1952, he was the son of the late George Norwood and Mary Chinault Anderson.
Wayne loved rabbit hunting, cooking barbecue, fishing at the beach, telling you what you’d find at mile markers, and NASCAR until Dale died.
Wayne served on the Goldsboro Volunteer Rescue Squad for many years. He was a long-time truck driver, and worked at Goldsboro Milling and Johnson County NCDOT. Wayne was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Laura Herring Anderson; sisters, Rena McLaurin and husband, Arnold, Linda Best and husband, Edgar, and Emma Church; his sons, Paul Anderson, Jeffrey Anderson and wife, Candice; his daughter, Emily Odom and husband, JR; grandchildren, Kelby Anderson, Mason McElveen, James Odom and Reese Odom; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his daughter, Katie Elizabeth Jones.
A service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Providence Church Cemetery with Pastor Jason Watford officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
