Myde Mae Woodard Godwin

Myde Mae Woodard Godwin, 84, of Princeton, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. Myde was born in Johnston County on May 20, 1938, to the late Leslie A. Woodard and Myrtle Wiggs Woodard.

In addition to her parents, Myde is preceded in death by her husband, William Estel Godwin; brother, James Alton Woodard; sisters-in-law, Betty Peedin Woodard and Barbara Woodard.

Myde is survived by her sons, Curtis E. Godwin and wife Becky of Princeton and Randy W. Godwin and wife Lisa of Pikeville; grandchildren, Brandon Godwin and wife Samantha, Lyndsey Godwin, Alexis Godwin, Tiffany Godwin Perry, and husband Will; great-granddaughter, Kylie Jo Godwin; brothers, Walter Harold Woodard of Princeton, Roy Leslie Woodard and wife Dianne of Princeton, Ronnie Ray Woodard and wife Betty of Princeton; sister, Bonnie Woodard Thompson, and husband Jimmy of Princeton; sister-in-law, Faye Holloman Woodard of Princeton and several other family and friends.

Myde was a loving mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was a graduate of Princeton High School and Kings Business College in Raleigh. She worked as an insurance agent for over 35 years. She was a faithful member of the Church of God for over 70 years. During her service for the Lord, she has taught Sunday School for over 20 years and sang in the choir. She will be dearly missed but precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

The visitation will be held from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Princeton Church of God.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Princeton Church of God with Pastor Les Woodard, Pastor Thomas McLendon, and Pastor Matt Cornett officiating. Burial will follow in the Princeton Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Godwin, Hal Woodard, Larry Godwin, Howard Merritt, Larry McCoy, and Danny Mitchell.

The family would like to thank Kitty Askins Hospice Center for the exceptional care and compassion during her final days.
