Rodney Franklin Adams

Rodney Franklin Adams

December 14, 2022, 66, Goldsboro –

Rodney Franklin Adams, 66, died on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro. Rodney was born in the Argentia Naval Air Station in New Foundland, Canada to Polly Hilbun Adams and the late James Adams on August 9, 1956.

Proudly serving our country as a soldier in the United States Army, Rodney appreciated the freedoms and principles for which our country stands. Upon his discharge, he began work with Smith Hardware in Goldsboro. Later, he joined the maintenance department at the Wayne County Airport where he continued working for many years.

Though Rodney was known for appreciating the simple things in life, he had a tremendous eye for detail. The intricacy of creating models of cars and motorcycles was a hobby to which he dedicated much of his time. He often enjoyed working under the hood of a car and troubleshooting problems. No matter what task he was accomplishing, everything seemed to go better when classic rock was playing in the background.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 19, 2022, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.

In addition to his mother, Rodney is survived by his wife of 33 years, Teresa Harden Adams; daughters, Amanda Adams and Christy Valley; grandsons, Zack Adams, Aiden McNally, and Tyler Strickland; brother, Denis Adams and wife, Robin; step-daughter, Susan Wells and husband, Phil and their son, Ryan; and step-son, Michael Jernigan and his children, Melissa, Nicholas, Mandi, Mikey and Lukas.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Keith Adams; step-grandchildren, Rachel Wells and Chris Jernigan; and grandparents, Rodney and Odesma VanHoy Hilbun and Omer and Corrine Adams.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
