Keith Charles “Casey” Hammond, 67, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022, at Wayne UNC Health Care.
Casey was born in West View, Pennsylvania to the late Edwin and Ruth Hammond on December 27, 1954. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force retiring with the rank of Technical Sergeant on October 31, 1994. With a love for country, Casey was proud to have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout while a member of the Boy Scouts of America.
Casey was always a hard worker and not one to sit idle. Following his retirement, Casey continued to work with Cooper Standard, Sam’s Club, and the Base Exchange at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. In his free time, Casey had a knack for working with his hands. Tinkering with cars, computers, model trains and airplanes helped to pass the time and brought him much joy.
Casey’s greatest joy, though, was his family. His wife, Audrey, along with his children and grandchildren made his life full. Their presence was a welcome sight.
A graveside service for Casey will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022, at 12:00 noon in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Andy Stovall officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
Casey is survived by his wife of 41 years, Audrey Bradley Hammond; children, David Joseph Hammond, April Rose Mozingo and husband, Timothy Ray, Christina Marie “Tina” Shearon and husband, Randall, and Keith Edwin Hammond; grandchildren, Adam Maurice Beaudry, Casey Catherine Hammond, Johnathan Andrew Ingram, Zachary Hammond, Michael Hammond, Ashlyn Hammond, Tristan Hammond, Liam Hammond, Logan Hammond; and brothers, Mark “Zeke” Hammond wife Karen and Jeff “UGGY” Hammond wife Gretchen. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Leah Smith and husband Christopher, their daughters Harper and Emmett; Mark Hammond Jr. and wife Jacqueline and their son Axel Hammond; Kristalina Greene and daughters, Kyara Greene and Kylie Greene; Amanda Hammond and her son TJ McDowell, daughters Victoria and Tiffany; and Nancy Gierl and husband Dan and their sons, Mason, Alexander and (little baby girl in about 1 week).
In addition to his parents Edwin “Zeke” and Ruth Hammond, he was preceded in death by his uncle and aunt, Freddie and Marie Lalonde.
