Charles Etheldred Sauls, 86, peacefully passed away in the comfortable surroundings of his home on Wednesday, December 7, 2022. Born in Wayne County on September 8, 1936, he was the son of the late Vernon and Julia Perry Sauls.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald M. Sauls, Julian H. Sauls, William V. Sauls, and his sister, Edith S. Head. Charles is survived by his sister, Dora Lou S. Radford; brother, Wayne Sauls and wife, Faye; and several special nieces and nephews.

Charles was a dedicated and faithful member of Aycock Primitive Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon. He retired from the banking industry with several years of service with BB&T. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army.

A graveside service to celebrate Charles’ life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022, at the Eureka Cemetery with Johnny Ray Gardner presiding. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery. Charles will be lying in state on Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and on Monday, December 12, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon at Seymour Funeral Home.
