Kathleen Price Smith

November 30, 2022, 80, Goldsboro –

Kathleen Price Smith, 80, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. She was born in Gaston County to the late Johnny and Flora Bell Price on March 23, 1942. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Smith; son-in-law, Donald Gray, and brother, Buddy Price.

Given the name Kathleen, many knew her by other names. You would often hear her called Jeannette and even Fat Mama. Each name she received was said with a deep passion for the sweet and giving woman she was.

Devoted to the care of her family, Jeannette was the ultimate homemaker. From making clothes for her children to wear to fill the table with home-cooked meals, she could handle it all. She maintained a garden not only for the bounty it produced but also for the joy she found in it. Her care and compassion for her loved ones were proof of her excellent role as a mama and grandmama.

Always creative, she could take anything and make something beautiful out of it. Floral design was a great hobby, yet she could decorate cakes with equal beauty. While she enjoyed utilizing her artistic skills, nothing pleased her more than a shopping trip.

A long-time member of Free Gospel Church, Jeanette worshiped more recently at Goldsboro Worship Center as her health would allow. In earlier years, she was actively involved in the Ladies Auxiliary of the New Hope Fire Department.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at the Goldsboro Worship Center followed by a service to celebrate Jeanette’s life at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Pastor Danny Johnson officiating. The interment will be in the Smith Family Cemetery.

Jeanette is survived by her children, Cathy Smith of Goldsboro, Patty “Sam” Gray of LaGrange, and Michael Smith and wife, Amy of LaGrange; grandchildren, Tracy Jackson, Crystal Stroud and fiancée, Jeff Butler, Jason Gray, Jessica Gurley and husband, Chad, Jacob Smith, and Joel Smith; and great-grandchildren, Hannah Stroud, Harper Stroud, Jordon Jackson, Juston Jackson, Reagan Gurley, Gray Gurley, Courtney Butler, and Whitley Butler. She is also survived by her sisters, Bobbie Langley and Peggy Smith, and husband, Bob, brother-in-law, Bruce Smith, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margie and AC Ormond.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate care provided by Community Home Health and Hospice and the special nurses on staff, Crystal Sutton and Carol Warren. Love and heartfelt thanks is also expressed to her caregivers, Joyce O’Handly, Rena Sandridge, and grandson, Joel Smith.

Flowers are welcome as she always enjoyed or memorials may be given to the charity of one’s choice.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
