Joyce Parris Grant, 85, 1750 Stoney Drive, died Saturday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, with friends and family in prayer for her.

Mrs. Grant was a lifelong English teacher who retired from the English Department of Lenoir Community College. She will be remembered as someone who made a difference in her community. Involved in several community organizations including the Country Quilting Club of Eureka, and Contently Roatan Club where she served as a cook for various events, an avid volunteer at numerous Group Homes in the area, and as well as a member of the Goldsboro Red Hat Club with her friend, Clara Sauls who was also a travel companion on several trips: Hawaii being a trip of great memories.

She was a native of Greene County and was preceded in death by her husband Selby Grant; a daughter Allyson Bogue Grant who she devoted mother and her parents Doris Bogue Parris and Earl Parris.

Surviving is her sons, Michael Grant of Kinston, and David Grant of Deep Run. Grandchildren; Austin Grant, his wife Christianna of High Point, Jessica Grant Plyler, and her husband Jake of Nashville, TN. Sister; Zellie P. Jones (Billy) of Snow Hill. Brothers; Arnold Parris and Edward Parris (Gladys) of Wilson, Arthur Parris of Kinston; many nieces and nephews as well as her dear friend, Clara Sauls of Eureka.

The Funeral will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday at Sharon Methodist Church where she was a very active member, 4061 Sharon Church Road, Kinston. Committal will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Trevor Blair will officiate.

Her family will receive following the funeral in the Fellowship Hall.
