Annie Cleo Guy Phillips

November 19, 2022, 98, Mount Olive –

Mrs. Annie Cleo Guy Phillips, age 98, Mount Olive resident, met the face of Jesus and was reunited with the love of her life on Saturday, November 19, 2022.

Born August 7, 1924, in Duplin County, she was the daughter of the late May and James Guy.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Olive where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Chancel Choir for more than 50 years.  She served the church as a deaconess, was president of the W. M. U., was a mission group leader, and served on numerous other committees.  She had been an employee of Belk-Tyler’s Department Store in Mount Olive for ten years and had been employed for 29 years in the offices of Dr. Robert Shackelford and Dr. Hervy Kornegay at Mount Olive Family Medicine Center.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by her son, Clifford “Cliff” H. Phillips III, and his wife, Sue, of Mount Olive; her daughter, Pamela P. Warren of Washington, NC; four grandchildren, Clifford “Chip” H. Phillips IV (Roxanne), Leigh Phillips Williams (Jeffrey), Mendi Warren Lewis (Shane), and Misti Warren Smith (Branch).  She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, Ava Grace, Hallie, Jacob, and Jack Williams, Carson Phillips, Rylee and Kamryn Lewis, and Collins, Della James, and Guy Smith.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Hamilton Phillips, Jr; brothers, Charles Guy and James F. Guy; sisters, Edna Howard and Joyce Harris; and son-in-law, Mitchell Warren.

A celebration of the life of Mrs. Phillips will be held Friday, November 25, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Mount Olive, and will be officiated by Dr. Dennis Atwood and Dr. Greg Barmer.  Following the service, the burial will be in the Calypso Cemetery.  The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary during the hour before the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to
