November 9, 2022, 72, Smithfield –

Vickie Elaine Ward Smith, 72, of Smithfield, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at UNC Hospital of Chapel Hill surrounded by her family. Vickie was born in Johnston County on November 28, 1949, to the late Raymond Allen Ward and Carrie Lena Hill Ward.

In addition to her parents, Vickie was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Alfred Smith; stepson, Stanley Smith; and brothers, Michael Ward and Sherwood Ward.

Vickie is survived by her daughter, Amy Toler of Smithfield; brother, Billy Ward and wife Annie of Goldsboro; niece, Becky Johnson and husband Casey of Four Oaks; great-niece, Raegan Ward of Four Oaks; her four-legged companion, Buster and several other family and friends.

Vickie was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. She enjoyed watching movies and going to the beach but most importantly spending time with her family, especially her daughter. She will be dearly missed but precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.  

No services will be held at this time.
