Update

On Nov. 5, 2022, after further investigation, the 17-year-old female driver has been charged in reference to the motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian on a bicycle in the 1200 block of E. Beech Street. The driver was charged with Death by Motor Vehicle and Hit and Run: Failed to Give Required Information or Assistance at Scene of a Crash.

Previous Story

On Oct. 27, 2022, at approximately 3:52 p.m., Goldsboro Police Department responded to the 1200 block of E. Beech Street in reference to a motor vehicle accident where a pedestrian, who was riding a bicycle, was struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel. The motor vehicle that struck the pedestrian was located along with the driver. After further investigation and with the assistance of the Wayne County Department of Adult Corrections Office, on Oct. 28, the victim in this case was identified as Gary Allen Edenfield. This investigation continues to be ongoing.
