Joy Ann Morris Martin, 60, of Kenly, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at her mother’s home. Joy was born in Portsmouth Virginia on August 29, 1962, to Peggy Cobb Ashe and the late Ezekiel Dempsey Morris.

In addition to her father, Joy is preceded in death by her stepfather, Jimmy Wyseman Ashe, and her son, Dale Smith.

In addition to her mother, Joy is survived by her son, Jason Dufour and wife Becky of Ohio; daughters, Amanda Gonzalez and husband Arnulfo of Smithfield, April Dufour of Kinston; grandchildren, Samantha Gonzalez-Watkins and husband Macon of Wendell, Christopher Gonzalez of Smithfield, Alexander Gonzalez of Kenly, Gabriela Gonzalez of Smithfield, Aiden Toler, Christian Toler, Riley Schaeffer, Autumn Cook, Brooklyn Cook, Kaiden Smith, and Taylor Smith; sister, Pamela Wall and husband Leslie of Pikeville; brother, Ezekiel Dempsey Morris of Kenly, and several other family and friends.
