On 10/29/22 at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department’s C-Shift responded to Wayne Memorial Drive near Country Day Road for a traffic crash involving a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. 

The pedestrian was running across Wayne Memorial Drive. She was struck by a passing vehicle traveling south bound. The driver stopped immediately to render aide.

Immediately following this crash the victim was still in the roadway when she was struck by a second vehicle traveling south bound on Wayne Memorial Drive. The driver of this vehicle also stopped immediately. 

The victim was identified as Sherry Aldridge Goff. The victim succumbed to her injuries sustained in the vehicle crashes.  The immediate family has been notified.

During the investigation, it was determined that Ms. Goff ran out into traffic and the vehicles involved could not avoid colliding with her.

The investigation determined that no charges will be filed in this case.
