Joyce Head Newcomb, 83, of Goldsboro passed away on Saturday at Helping Hands Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Berry and Beulah Chase Head. Mrs. Joyce was a retired Deli Manager with A&P Grocery Stores. She enjoyed spending time working in her yard, traveling on cruises, and seeing Elvis impersonators with her friend, Sylvia Britt. She was heartbroken when Sylvia passed away. Most of all she loved to spend time with her grandchildren and her great-grandson “Shine”.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm at Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. David Moehring officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Carol Newcomb Cotton of Goldsboro; a sister, Ann Dawson of Goldsboro; a special son-in-law, James “Jimmy” D. Cotton; her grandchildren, Nicole and Miranda Cotton; and her great-grandson, Jeremiah “Shine” Cotton-Lane.
The Newcomb family would like to thank, the staff of Woodard’s Care, Helping Hands, and Community Hospice for their loving care of Mrs. Joyce.
