James Henry Sutton, 86, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022, at WakeMed in Raleigh. Born in Wilson County on November 4, 1935, he was the son of the late Adam Herring Sutton and Mary Harrell Speight Suggs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Earl Sutton.

James is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Eloise Boykin Sutton; daughter, Jamie Perkins, and husband, Claude of Princeton; grandchildren, Justice Perkins, Jaydon Perkins, Jaymeson Perkins, Journey Perkins, and Judah Perkins; brothers, Samuel Douglas Sutton, Kenneth Ray Sutton, Carson Sutton, and Clint Sutton.

James was a valued employee of the Wake County Tax Office where he served as a real estate appraiser. He also proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 4 years.

He was a member of Spring Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church. James received much joy in fixing cars when he was not busy at work.

A service to celebrate James’ life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2022, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral home with Pastor Al Warrick officiating. Entombment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Clayton with Military Honors. The family will receive friends in the hour prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
