Bessie Shirley Tyndall

Bessie Shirley Tyndall

October 1, 2022, 90, Goldsboro –

Bessie Shirley Tyndall, 90, departed this life on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Greene County to the late Claud and Bessie Lee Shirley on May 21, 1932. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Berry Tyndall; son, James Berry Tyndall, II; son-in-law, John Williamson; brothers, Melvin “Bud” Shirley and Claude Eugene Shirley; and step-father, Wiley Barnette.

Bessie’s world revolved around her family. She looked forward to times when she could be surrounded by her loved ones. Her family enjoyed times shared with Bessie, especially when her homemade chicken pastry and collards were expected to be on the table.

Around the farm, Bessie worked right alongside the rest of her family through each activity. Busy from sun up to sun down, she was devoted to serving her family and lending a helping hand.

Bessie was able to experience the goodness of God in the land of the living. She enjoyed the beauty of God’s creation right outside of her own doors. She watched flowers bloom and God’s goodness spread throughout her garden.

A service to celebrate Bessie’s life will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, October 6, 2022, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Rose to officiate. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during the hour prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Williamson; grandchildren, Leea Williamson Cotton and husband, Justin and Jason Moore; great-grandchildren, Jackson Cotton and Lillian Cotton; and sisters, Joan Barnette, and Jolene Barnette.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given in her memory to the charity of one’s choice.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
