On Sept. 27, 2022, at approximately 8:53 a.m., the Goldsboro Police and Fire departments and Wayne County EMS were dispatched to a traffic crash with injuries involving a pedestrian. This crash occurred on N. Berkeley Boulevard at Cashwell Drive.

A pedestrian, Patricia Pope of LaGrange, was crossing Berkeley Boulevard at Cashwell Drive. A vehicle driven by Teresa Turner of Goldsboro made a left turn from Cashwell Drive to travel south on Berkeley Boulevard; however, she advised she was blinded by the sun and did not see Ms. Pope in the roadway. The front right portion of Ms. Turner’s vehicle then struck Ms. Pope.

Ms. Pope was transported by Wayne County EMS to UNC Health Wayne and was later discharged from medical care. No damage was done to Ms. Turner’s vehicle, and she was not injured. Ms. Turner was cited for an unsafe movement violation.
