Ruby Hare Pate, 87, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Wayne County on April 17, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Richard Lee and Mattie Williams Hare.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Pate; son-in-law, Toby Faucette; brothers, Paul Hare, Marvin Hare, Richard Hare Jr., Charles Hare, and Buck Hare; and sisters, Dorothy McCullen and Mary Britt.

Ruby is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Pete Smith and Jenny Faucette and Bobby Williams, all of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Michael Smith of Durham, Brandon Kyle Faucette and wife, Julie of Goldsboro, and Lisa Gery and husband, Bryan of Goldsboro; great-grandchildren, Taylor Gery, Reece Gery, Kylie Faucette, and Asher Faucette; sisters, Evelyn H. Fail and Clara Lee H. Nord; sisters-in-law, Annette Pate and Tempie Hare; and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.

Ruby loved her church family and was a dedicated and faithful member of Love Memorial Baptist Church. She welcomed the opportunity to serve God and others.

Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. Each will treasure the memories of the vacations, the meals she prepared, and her love for each of them. Each opportunity to spend time with them was treasured, as she looked forward to every family gathering, meal, and visit. There was no better pastime than spending time with her family.

A service to celebrate Ruby’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Love Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Toler officiating. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during the hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the church fellowship hall.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff of Community Home Care & Hospice of Goldsboro. Special thanks are given to Kylie Braswell, Julie Lee, Leslie Lane, Linda Moore, and Chaplain Patrick Muston. Pat and Jenny would also like to give a special thanks to Ruby’s sons-in-law for all the ways they helped care for her over the last several years.
