UMO Student Dies, 3 Others Injured in Accident

Overnight, four students attending the University of Mount Olive were involved in a fatal traffic accident. In a statement released this morning, students and the community learned of the sad news.

Peyton Lee, a senior agriculture major from Four Oaks, NC, died from injuries sustained from the accident. Dylan Stacy, a senior agriculture student from Sanford, NC and Adrienne Crawford, a junior psychology major from Middlesboro, Kentucky were transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital following the accident and are being released. James Noah Johnson, a junior agriculture major from Pinetown, NC was airlifted to Vidant Memorial Hospital in Greenville and remains in critical condition.

A memorial table has been placed in the lobby of Rodger’s Chapel for Peyton Lee.

University of Mount Olive President Dr. H. Edward Croom stated, “It is an extremely sad day for the University of Mount Olive. We are a close-knit family here at the University, and this has hit us hard. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the Lee family, and we uplift all of the others in our prayers. Please be in prayer for all four of these families and for our University family!”

The University of Mount Olive will have a time of prayer for all those involved in the tragic accident tonight at 6:00 PM in the Rodgers Chapel.
