Retired CMSgt. Billie Calvin Darlington, 91, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Wayne UNC Healthcare. Born and raised in the mountains of West Virginia, Billie was the son of the late Francis Marion Darlington and Nellie Roach Darlington.

Billie faithfully served his country with two stints in the United States Military. Billie served four years in the Navy and 22 years in the Air Force. Billie had a keen and deep appreciation for the opportunities that his service provided for him.

Growing up in West Virginia, Billie loved being outdoors. Billie enjoyed fishing and hunting at a young age. Later in life, Billie loved collecting beautiful sea shells. In his free time, Billie was known to write beautiful poetry.

A service to celebrate Billie’s life will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. Internment with full military honors will follow the service at Wayne Memorial Park. A time of visitation will be held the hour prior to the service, from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M.

Billie is survived by his daughter, Billie Jean Glor, and husband, Peter of Santa Clarita, California; son, Michael Ross Darlington of Fremont; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Billie is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Taylor Darlington; daughter, Bobbie Joan Askren; and sister, Frances Ruth Miller.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 6704 Hagerstown, MD 21741 in memory of Billie.
