Arrest Made in July Shooting

Goldsboro Police have arrested and charged Shamella Janay Oliver, 30, of Edgerton Street with Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injuries.

On July 3rd, Officers from the Goldsboro Police Department’s Uniformed Patrol “B” Shift responded to Wayne UNC Healthcare in reference to a victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was subsequently identified as Stephon Hayes, 30, of Edgerton Street. The victim was flown to Vidant Medical Center for further treatment of his injuries.

Investigators with the Goldsboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and the Crime Scene Unit responded to assume the investigation.  

On September 1st, after further investigation by the Goldsboro Police Department Criminal Investigations Division, a warrant was secured on Shamella Oliver for AWDWIKISI. At 4 p.m., Oliver was arrested by officers with the Goldsboro Police Department Support Services Division in the 1700 block of Edgerton Street. She was served on the outstanding warrant and confined to the Wayne County Jail on a $50,000 secure bond with her first appearance on September 6.
