Mr. Charles Morton Gautier, 85, resident of Mount Olive, passed away Monday evening, August 29, 2022, while in the care of Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Graveside rites will be held Friday, September 2, at 3:00 p.m. in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. Pastor Chad Smith will preside.
Mr. Gautier was a retired oil barge captain. He was a founding member and trustee of Fore Christ Church of Mount Olive.
Mr. Charles M. Gautier is survived by his children, Sally Ann Matamoros of Chesapeake, Va., Sandy Barnett of Mount Olive, Shirley Pike of Richlands, Shelly Ingram of Jacksonville, Charles Stanley Gautier and wife, Susan, of Petersburg, Fla., Matthew Gautier, Mark Gautier, Amy Gautier, and Justin Heath and wife, Lynn, of Mount Olive; grandchildren, Louis C. Matamoros II, Darlene Matamoros, Elizabeth Matamoros, Nicholas S. Matamoros, Brandon K. Jones, Jay Oldaker, Chrissy Hooker, Lee Osbin, Timmy Osbin, Lee Ann Smith and husband, Chad, Jo Ann Elmore and husband, Glenn, Emily Coltrain; great-grandchildren, Nicholas V. Matamoros, Jessica Matamoros, Elijah Smith, Makayla Smith, Caleb Smith, Ethan Smith, Hannah Smith, and Connor Coltrain.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Joyce Summerlin Heath Gautier; parents, Jasper Gautier and Rosa Hair Gautier; siblings, Hubert Gautier, Blackmon Gautier, Leslie Howard “Bud” Gautier, Jasper “Coot” Gautier, Curtis Gautier, Gladys G. Creech, and Pauline G. King.
