August 31, 2022, 76, La Grange –

Annie Ruth Boyette Smith, 76, was received into the presence of her Lord in the early morning hours of August 31, 2022. Ann was born in Lenoir County to the late David Curtic and Carrie Mae Heath Boyette on August 5, 1946. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by six siblings: David Curtic Boyette, Jr., David Lee Boyette, Furnie Lee Boyette, Clarence Lee Boyette, Clifton Lee Boyette, and Doris Lee Boyette.

Being raised on the family farm, a spirit of hard work was ingrained into her being. Growing up in a large family, Ann learned early on how to get along with everybody and remained a constant source of love and support for her close-knit family.

Ann married her husband, Buster, in 1980, many years after the two met in high school. Faithful to her vows of love in all circumstances, no wife has ever been as supportive and loving as Ann was to Buster. Though she loved all members of her family greatly, there was no brighter day in her life than the day her granddaughter, Alyssa, was born. The bond between them was lasting and grew stronger each day.

With a great love for the Lord, Ann faithfully attended Kinston First Free Will Baptist Church as often as her health allowed. Her church family was an extension of her own, and she invited anyone that would join them every opportunity she could.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at Rouse Funeral Home on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Gary Harris officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Committal will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2022.

Ann is survived by her husband, Jones “Buster” Smith; daughter, Deborah Langston and husband, Robert; son, Andy Smith and wife, Jennifer Currington Smith; grandchildren, Alyssa Rae Smith and Rebecca Harrell and husband, Jerry; great-grandchildren, Lili Jo and Miley Grace; and siblings, Hazel Lee Thompson and Jesse Lee Boyette.
