August 25, 2022, 76, Seven Springs –

Elda Rae Holmes, 76, of the Seven Springs area, passed away late Thursday afternoon, August 25, 2022 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

She had been employed as a machine operator in area sewing factories. She was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church.

Mrs. Holmes is survived by her daughters, Belinda Parker and husband, Kay, of Mount Olive, and Julie Holmes and significant other, Tommy Kornegay of Seven Springs; two grandchildren, Nicole Willis and Brandon Parker; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Theriac and Camden Willis; a sister, Marie McArthur of Mount Olive; two brothers, Robert W. “Bo” Mervin and wife, Sue, of Seven Springs, and Robert E. Murvin and wife, Sherry, of Wilmington; a special friend, Kenneth Hood; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Daniel Holmes; her parents, Harper Murvin and Julie Lee Coker Murvin.

The family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home on Sunday, August 28, from 5 until 7 p.m. Services will be conducted Monday, August 29, at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. Jason Watford will officiate. The family will also be receiving friends at Ms. Elda Rae’s home.
