Jerry Albert Byrd, 73, passed away on Sunday at his residence. He was the son of the late John Asa and Marjorie Holland Byrd, and widower of Mary Byrd. Mr. Byrd was a retired Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and going fishing.  

At this time no formal services will be held.

Jerry is survived by his children, Jeannine Davenport and husband, Gary of Seven Springs, Jamie Byrd and wife, Leah of Dudley, and Jerry Byrd Jr. and wife, Angela of Pikeville; brothers, James “Rusty” Byrd of Deep Run and John “Slick” Byrd and wife, Sandra of Kinston; a sister, Janie Hilliard and husband, Don of Goldsboro; special friend, Lori Leach; grandchildren, Charlie Davenport, Cody, Hayley, Logan, Austin, Kayley, Jackson, and Brianna Byrd; and great grandchildren, Aubrey and Victoria.

In addition, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jimmy “Rock Byrd and Jack Byrd.
