Elva Williford Baker, 85, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

Elva was born in Johnston County to the late Jim and Nora Pipkin Williford on December 28, 1936.

Elva had retired from food service from Raleigh Community Hospital. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Church.

A graveside service to celebrate Elva’s life will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.

Elva is survived by her daughters, Brenda Metz of Summerville, Angelic Joyner and husband, James of Zebulon; son, Keith Thompson and wife, Gina of Portsmouth, VA; six grandchildren, Heidi Bates, Kevin Wallace, Jessica Metz, Lindsey Metz Johnson, Joshua Sorrell and Andrew Sorrell; and three great-grandchildren, Sierra Bates, Alex Bates and Aislinn Metz. She is also survived by her nephew-brother, Sherwood Williford of Goldsboro.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Baker; daughter, Bonita Wallace; sisters, Clara Reaves, Myrtie Stevens, Mabel Knowles, Louise Williford, and Eunis Williford; and brother, James Williford.
