Zachary Thomas McBarron

August 11, 2022, 25, Goldsboro –

Zachary Thomas McBarron died on Thursday, August 11, 2022. After a long battle with addiction, Zachary now rests safe in the truest solace of Christ Jesus whom he loved.

Born in Wayne County, NC, Zachary was the son of Jeffrey “G-Bo” Thomas McBarron and June Pate Bryan (Mike). Along with his parents, he is survived by his sister, Danielle Pate McBarron; his maternal grandmother; Joy Smith Pate; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Though words to fully describe Zachary fall short, he will be remembered as a force to be reckoned with, an adventurer, and a visionary like no other. His intelligence, wit, and humor were unmatched, and his laugh was the brightness in any room. Borrowing from the words of the timeless philosopher, Patrick Star, Zachary would often say, “The inner confines of my mind are an enigma.” He came alive at the resonance of music, in the wild of Creation, and through giving his creativity to make beauty of his own in the world. To those that knew him well, Zachary was compassionate, humble, and steadfast. He lived and loved deeply, extracting all the meaning from life he could as he saw every moment, every person, and everything enchanted by Eternity. He was and is a beloved son, brother, friend, and child of God.

Zachary was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Hilda Jones Hare; his maternal great grandmother, Ruby Smith; and his aunt, Ramona Taylor, with whom he shared his birthdate.

A graveside memorial will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. The time of the service will be announced at a later date. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Hope is Alive, Hope for Recovery/Hope Center Ministries, or other addiction recovery program.
