Roy Wayne Mills, 70, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022 at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill. Born in Wayne County on June 6, 1952 to Roy C. Mills and the late Jean Ingram Mills.

Wayne is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Donna Cotton Mills; daughters, Pamela Jean “Pam” Mills Evans and husband, John Oliver and Donnarie Mills Hales and husband, Allen; grandchildren, Clayton Stewart, Reagan Hales, Madeline Stewart, and Benton Hales; father, Roy Mills and wife, Nannie Mills; brother, Randy Mills; mother-in-law, Jean B. “Tincey” Cotton; step-sisters, Julie Whitfield, DeAnne Best, and Melinda Carlton; and his beloved canine friend, Aggie, the only daughter he had that would listen.

Wayne had a work ethic like no other and it showed in the way he enjoyed his career. He worked alongside his dad and brother in the family business, RWR Logging. Wayne loved being outdoors on equipment in the woods or in a field. Never idle, Wayne enjoyed tinkering and was quite the inventor. In his down-time, he enjoyed traveling to various tractor-pulls.

Wayne had been a member of the N.C. Forestry Association. He was also a member of Eureka Christian Church in the Grantham community.

A service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 in the sanctuary of Eureka Christian Church with Rev. Frank Purvis officiating. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 15, 2022 at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
