Monica Sue Kesler Johnson

Monica Sue Kesler Johnson

August 10, 2022, 62, Pikeville –

Monica Sue Kesler Johnson, 62, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, of August 10, 2022. She went peacefully at home after a long-fought battle with cancer.

Born in Spokane, Washington on November 17, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Kenneth Kesler and Ursula Fischer Kesler.

Monica is survived by her husband of forty-three years, Perry Johnson; two sons, Aaron Nathaniel Johnson and Noah Tremaine Johnson (wife, Keli); one granddaughter, Riley Johnson; a brother, Barney Kesler; and a sister, Renee Pierce.

Monica was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. As a young mom she split her time between homeschooling her two sons and being a full-time artist, and bibliophile. Monica was a self-taught anthophile and her love of plants emerged often in her work with Plant Partners, a role she filled for 10 years. She loved animals and never met a dog she didn’t love or who didn’t love her right back. For the last 10 plus years Monica has been a very proud “Noni” to Riley, sharing with her a love of art, laughs, and lots of hugs. Above all, Monica was a devout Christian and started each day asking God to make her into the person He wanted her to be.

A service to celebrate Monica’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2022 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with her husband, Mr. Perry Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. during the hour prior to the service at Seymour Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org or to Heifer International https://www.heifer.org/.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
