James “Bug” Clemon Holt

July 21, 2022, 76, Princeton –

James “Bug” Clemon Holt, 76, of Princeton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield surrounded by his family. Bug was born in Johnston County on August 6, 1945 to the late James Holt and Bessie Ellen Brantham Holt Pronier.

In addition to his parents, Bug is preceded in death by his brothers, Silas Holt, Danny Holt, and Tim Holt.

Bug is survived by his sister, Tammy Holt Boyd and husband Richard of Four Oaks; step son, Alex Avalos and wife Angel; grandchildren, Leighya Avalos and Alex Avalos, Jr.; sister in-law and loving caretaker, Jo Ann Eason and husband Kenneth of Selma; nine nieces and nephews and several other family and friends.

Bug was a loving and caring man who put others before himself.  He took great pride taking care of Pam Powell prior to her passing and helped raise her son, Alex and took care of several other people in his lifetime. Bug worked for the Edwards IGA in Princeton for over 50 years. He was a Princeton Police Officer and volunteered his time on the Princeton Volunteer Fire Department for twenty years. Most importantly he loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed but precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.  

The memorial service will be held at 1:00PM, on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations Chapel with Reverend Dennis Pollock officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations in Princeton.
