Lawrence James “L.J.” Parker, 96, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022 in Duluth, Minnesota. Born in Dillon, South Carolina on October 29, 1925, he was the son of the late Eddie and Beulah Coats Parker.

In addition to his parents, L.J. was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Irene Jackson Parker; son, Larry James Parker; sisters, Edna Thompson and Christine Harris; and brother, Eddie Parker, Jr.

L.J. is survived by his sons, Anthony Lee Parker and wife, Diane of Duluth, Minnesota and Terry Russell Parker of Goldsboro; three grandchildren, Joshua Parker, Russell Lee Parker, and Michelle Parker; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

L.J. worked for many years as an auto parts manager. He was a dedicated and faithful member of New Life Baptist Church.

A service to celebrate L.J.’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at New Life Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Varner officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday during the hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon at Greenlawn Cemetery in Dillon, South Carolina.
