July 2, 2022, 80, Mount Olive –
James Carroll Grady, 80, life-long resident at Scottie’s Pool on the outskirts of Mount Olive, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022, white a patient at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
Carroll was the son of James B. and Anna Mae Scott Grady and he was their only child. Carroll was employed in civil service at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in its corrosion control squadron in airplane maintenance, and he also assisted his mother at Scottie’s Florist with floral deliveries and such. He worshiped at Mount Olive Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Carroll is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Mary Baker Grady, of the home; a son, Jamie Grady and his wife, Shirley, of Seven Springs; grandchildren, James Grady of Seven Springs, Amy Brown and husband, Jimmy, of Seven Springs, Cristan Pipkin and husband, Cody, of Grantham, and Catherine Johnson and companion, Luke Barbour of Calypso; great-grandchildren, Sage and Colt Pipkin, and Luke Barbour; a friend of the family who was like a son, Chris Johnson and wife, Allison, of Calypso; cousins who were like brothers, Travis Clarke and wife, Elizabeth, of Calypso, and Walter Scott of Mount Olive; other special cousins, and an extension of family and friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 6, at 6 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with visitation afterwards. Entombment will be held privately at Carroll Grady Family Cemetery.
