Judy Coker Best

Judy Coker Best

June 21, 2022, 85, Goldsboro –

Judy Coker Best, 85, was welcomed into her heavenly home on Tuesday afternoon, June 21, 2022. Judy was born in Wayne County to the late Carl Edward Coker and Louise Worrell Coker on March 17, 1937. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Best; grandson, Cooper Best; son-in-law, Wayne Lanier; and sisters, Lynn Coker Sauls and Belvia Faye Coker.

Strong in her faith and a constant support for her family, Judy took great pride in keeping her home and raising her children with Christian values. She devoted her life to the care and wellbeing of her family, and supported her husband and children in all they would do. As a faithful member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, she faithfully served her Lord and strengthened the walk of herself and others through teaching Sunday school. Wanting to extend her love even further, Judy volunteered for many years in the Coffee Shop at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Always dressed and put together very well, Judy never left her home without looking her best. Her outer appearance was a mere reflection of her deep rooted qualities of love and devotion.

Around the home, Judy took time to bask in God’s creation by watching and listening to the variety of birds that visited her yard. The cost of keeping her bird feeders stocked was well worth the gift she received in turn by their daily visits. Recognizing the need for socializing and learning from others, Judy was a founding member of the “Friendly Club”, a group of housewives that regularly met for fellowship.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at 12:30 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.

Judy is survived by her children, Rick Best (Ani), Robin Lanier, Renee Best (Jeff Gomez) and Roman Best (Wendy); grandchildren, Jennifer Reinke (Brian), Sidney Best, Jordan Barkman (Brian), Noble Geary, Topher Best and Brewer Best; great-grandchildren, Lanier Barkman and Nash Barkman; and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
